Finding your heart’s seed and nurturing it; Eau de Woman, digital art & poem, by Joan Ellen Gage

Original Photo-creation by Joan Ellen Gage
Trying to make things happen with sheer will, is a little
like trying to jump-start an engine with a feather.
Never-the-less, I am trying just that.
Progress is slow; however, there is progress,
even if that change is internal, and is
recognized by myself and no-one else.
Perhaps this is the secret revealed,
discovering a difference, an awakening within, a seed
unfolding that I, myself, planted.
From this seed, a flower grows. It is
delicate, yet strong, gentle, yet bold. I
feel this unfurling within me,
filling my body cavity with beauty, and purpose. I
breathe deeply and inhale its heady perfume.
Women, find your heart’s seed and nurture it.
Keep it safe until you are ready to bloom.
Feed it hope, cradle it with love, and
let the light of your heart’s desire awaken it.
Let your joy blossom!

Can you Embrace the Fierce? Poetry by Joan Ellen Gage

Mary–Embracing the Fierce
Good morning! Are we feeling fierce, today? No, well, read on and embrace the fierce!
Fierce

Can you do it?
Can you embrace the fierce,
bring it to the surface
of your being?
Your wounded warrior heart
beats, it has survived
in spite of you.
It is time to claim
this aspect of yourself,
to integrate it into your existence.
We are all Viking daughters,
armed, ready to do battle,
surrendering to no one,
not even ourselves.
The ancient one lies within.
Awaken her.
Awaken the power
Of your fierce warrior self.

Unfinished Works of Art

A Woman for All Ages

Here is a shock for you

Not all of us are moms who do it all

Or are executives, who crashed the glass ceiling,

Left, and found their “true calling”

Some of us have just been trying to make a living

Worker bees, who buried creative or other needs,

Like self-expression, under a load of work and life

It happens and time passes

I swallowed the work ethic myth hook, line and sinker

I was the “perfect” employee—hard working

Taking a personal interest in my job

My Mary Poppins’ era; but, it left nothing for me

50 opened up my eyes

I still work hard, but now I work for me

First and foremost, I take care of myself

And my responsibilities to family

As time passes, we need to deal with

And understand what lessons each decade teaches us

Hopefully we learn and embrace the wisdom

From our experiences, and in turn,

These life lessons flesh out

Who we are becoming and who we grow to be

We are unfinished works of art

The book not yet completed

The half-carved sculpture

To be unveiled by the universe

And not at a time of our choosing

So let the journey unfold, and may your story be told!

From the book, A Redhead Looks at 60, by Joan Ellen Gage

I hope you enjoyed the art and the poem, dear reader. Have a wonderful one!

A Much Needed Peace

Cloud Art by Joan Ellen Gage

Here at the penultimate holiday of the western world and beyond, there is so much hype about peace and love, and traditional values. I feel there is actually very little peace and love given freely on our planet.

I am reminded of the words to John Lennon’s song, Imagine. I pray that we do not forget these words, and that someday they will be true. Please read them at the bottom of this post.

Peace on Earth to all!

Joan

“Imagine”

Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today…

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one
