The Fault in My Stars

The Fault in My Stars

is what? Do I have a kick me sign on my

aura, a “D” in the middle of my

forehead? WTF universe?

Is my Karma such that

from a past life that I

attract men requiring healing,

needing their broken wings

repaired? And then they wing

away, leaving me pondering.

This puzzles me so. I

lead a basically good life, I

help others. But I can’t

pick a mate who is satisfied enough

with what I have to offer.

Am I on the wrong planet–Uranus

must be where I am. Could I please be

teleported to Venus, or

hitchhike on a billionaire’s spaceship?

The fault must be in my stars. They

are misaligned, or their batteries have

burned out, I don’t know!

If anyone can spare a lucky star,

send it my way.

Joan out.

Fitting In, Digital Art and Poetry by Joan Ellen Gage

Fitting In

I sit quietly, this

miraculous in itself.

Hands finger smooth paper,

caress the cold metal of the

writing implement.

Exhaling, eyes flutter, colors

speak, indigo and Parrish blue

flash behind gossamer lids, a

sensation of the world flattening,

planing, a compressed square of self

slides, into my background,

snapping in like a puzzle piece.

I am euphoric, yet, at peace. The

many selves are aligned, I am complete, I am

grounded.

Finding your heart’s seed and nurturing it; Eau de Woman, digital art & poem, by Joan Ellen Gage

Original Photo-creation by Joan Ellen Gage
Trying to make things happen with sheer will, is a little
like trying to jump-start an engine with a feather.
Never-the-less, I am trying just that.
Progress is slow; however, there is progress,
even if that change is internal, and is
recognized by myself and no-one else.
Perhaps this is the secret revealed,
discovering a difference, an awakening within, a seed
unfolding that I, myself, planted.
From this seed, a flower grows. It is
delicate, yet strong, gentle, yet bold. I
feel this unfurling within me,
filling my body cavity with beauty, and purpose. I
breathe deeply and inhale its heady perfume.
Women, find your heart’s seed and nurture it.
Keep it safe until you are ready to bloom.
Feed it hope, cradle it with love, and
let the light of your heart’s desire awaken it.
Let your joy blossom!

A Poem for Nancy

A Tribute to Nancy Simpson

Today I honor my friend and fellow poet, Nancy Simpson. She was unique, dramatic, talented, a fire cracker. Nancy was a lover of nature and lived in the mountains for many years. She will be missed by myself, the poets, and the writing community.

Peace,

Patch, patch, patch!

Joan about to run off the road!

Patch, Patch, Patch!

Why is it?

Just when you think things are going to be

Rosy

Life sideswipes you, and throws you in the

Ditch!

I seem to spend

Half of my life patching things back

Together

The other half I spend worrying

About

Whether the patch will hold!

Oh, no!

Don’t tell me!

Is that another leak

I hear?

From Embracing Your Inner Cheerleader, by Joan Ellen Gage

Accepting yourself, faults and all!

Can you see the real me?

Acceptance

It’s the hardest thing a woman can do

To accept herself as she is, faults and all

And rise above Western civilizations’ criticism

Our society has created a model

That few can touch—

Ultra thin, flawless, plus giant breasts

Based on the “Barbie” doll figure

Women come in all shapes and sizes

Each perfect in their own way

Women must find their own exquisiteness

And embrace and love themselves

Their unique and wonderful selves!

Tips for Staying "in the Now", by Joan Ellen Gage

Joan’s tips for being present:

As usual, I struggle with staying in the now. My go to is to get outside with my dog. Watching her keeps me present and I realize how blessed I am to have this wonderful creature as my friend. If you don’t have a pet, maybe you can “borrow” one!

The second thing I do to stay present is to watch the sunset or sunrise. If you can’t watch a real one, watch one on the net. There are a lot of youtube videos, like this one:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbaJ1SPjLnc

Namaste, y’all!
